Everything You Want to Know About Polyganics’ Products Solutions

Synthetic materials in wound repair

Polyganics offers your surgeon a range of unique solutions for the repair of soft tissues after surgery. This either is a product that acts as a wound dressing after nose surgery (NASOPORE®), for example supporting the repair of your ear drum (OTOPORE®), the repair of a damaged nerve (NEUROLAC®) or to minimize any unwanted tissue attachments after surgery (VIVOSORB®).

All of our products have 2 things in common: they are synthetic and fully bioresorbable.

Synthetic means that the components used for the fabrication of our products are not derived from animals. These agents are non-toxic and are favorable over animal derived materials when to be applied in the human body. Our products are either available in a foam like structure (NASOPORE®, OTOPORE®) or are transparent sheet like materials (NEUROLAC®, VIVOSORB®)
Bioresorbable means that the products are, under influence of fluids and body temperature, broken down and removed by the patients' natural pathways. The safe break-down products are carbon dioxide, water and urea (part of urine).

To exemplify the benefits for a patient, eliminating painful removal and prevent any trauma, we would like to use NASOPORE® as example.

NASOPORE® - next generation nasal packing.

The removal of a bandage after sinus surgery is for many patients an unpleasant experience. They either feel that something from inside their head is removed and often the wound starts to bleed again. It even happens that the patient faints.

This all is part of the past as Polyganics offers products that gradually fall apart in natural components which make removal unnecessary.
Our product, NASOPORE®, is little different from the traditional nose bandage. It is a very soft and comfortable foam-like material that is easily inserted in the nose. It readily absorbs wound fluids, which in turn initiate the gradual break-down process of the foam. About 12 to 36 hours after insertion, it still gives the needed compression to stop the bleeding and supports the natural healing processes. Although the foam appears to be intact, it cannot be touched as it is already falling apart. Upon daily nasal spraying using a saline solution the dressing degrades even further and within 7 – 14 days NASOPORE® is easily removed by suctioning or swallowing
